ABOUT JENNIFER JOHNSON AVRIL

Jennifer Johnson Avril has ten years of experience in public relations with a strong focus on high and consumer technology clients. Her skills in media relations, team management and high-level strategy have helped her to create success for Fortune 500 companies and brand-new startups alike. She has authored home and design magazine articles under her own name as well as technology trade magazine articles for her clients.

While at INK PR, Jennifer was the recipient of two industry awards -- a 2006 Bulldog Reporter Award for Technology-Business (Silver, Account Lead, Avamar Technologies) and a 2007 PR News Award for Pro Bono Account (Winner, Team Member, Freedom Is Not Free). Jennifer spent several years as an independent consultant and previously worked for TSI Communications. She got her start in public relations at PWPR, an arts and culture firm in NYC where she was the account lead for a three-museum retrospective of Black British artists. Prior to her work in public relations, she was an editorial assistant for book packager Welcome Enterprises, a subsidiary of Stewart, Tabori & Chang.

Jennifer is a graduate of New York University's Gallatin School where she received a BA in 20th Century Literature. She was a 1999 Writer-in-Residence at Millet Farm, an artists' colony founded and operated by feminist writer and activist Kate Millet, where she wrote poetry, helped grow trees and once dismantled a scaffold while climbing down the length of it, much to her own awe. She resides in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband, son and a menagerie of animals that somehow fit into a New York City apartment.
